Staff Profile – Sarah Padgett, Underwriter – Farm

Q: How long have you been in the insurance industry? 

Sarah: I have worked in the insurance industry for 22 years, predominantly in the corporate market and the last four years in the agricultural sector. 

Q: In the twenty two years that you have worked in the insurance industry what has been the biggest change? 

Sarah: There is less mentoring of junior staff. When I started I had great mentors that taught me the methods of broking and technical knowledge that I still use today.

Q: What’s the favourite part of your job? 

Sarah: The arguments and drinking beer at the end of the day.

Q: What is the difference between broking and underwriting?

Sarah: Having control over when the quote is released….really there is not a lot of difference as I am still broking the risk to Phil Weir on the broker’s behalf.
