Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal
Rural Affinity is pleased to announce that it has recently partnered with the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR).
FRRR is a philanthropic organisation that was formed in 2000 following a collaboration between the Sidney Myer Fund and the Federal Government. To quote FRRR, their strategy is focused on ‘…enabling communities to build their social capital and economic resilience, by engaging and providing resources for projects that create the change that communities aspire to achieve.’ FRRR have a number of programs and Rural Affinity will be splitting our commitment between the Back to School program and the Small Grants for Rural Communities.
The Back to School program was developed to help rural and remote children by providing $50 gift vouchers which are redeemable for items such as school uniforms, clothing, shoes and stationery items. The program is aimed at providing students in need with the best possible start to their school year. The impact of the vouchers is far more than just monetary, they significantly improve the confidence, self esteem and educational engagement of the students. Last year the program assisted over 15,000 children.
Small Grants for Rural Communities is one of FRRR’s flagship programs designed to provide rural communities with grants up to $5000 for projects and activities that offer clear public benefit. A priority is given to communities with a population of 10,000 or less. The program is open twice a year (February-March and August-September) and each year FRRR support about 300 projects. We will be taking part in the February-March round of Grant applications and look forward to providing you with more details and updates as they become available.
